Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Since we launched our (almost) weekly news round-up just over 6 months ago, our readership has nearly doubled. We are grateful for all the faithful readers, feedback, and all of you who have been spreading the word!
In this email, we wanted to let you know about some changes, plans, and accomplishments.
The big shift we wanted you all to know about is that we are going to be switching our weekly news roundup over to Substack. We hope this is a better experience for you all and will have more ways for comments and interaction.
While the newsletter will be free, there will also be an opportunity to pitch in a few dollars a month if you want to support our work. Payments through Substack won’t be tax deductible but if you’d like to make a tax-deductible donation, let us know!
You’ll be receiving a notification about the switch soon so be sure to add the new email address to your safe senders list so you don’t miss any updates.
Keep the faith,
Timothy McMahan King
Senior Fellow, CNDP

We just made a list of the top 15 harm reduction-related blogs out there. It’s entirely possible every harm reduction-related blog made the list, but we will take it as a win!

Join us for great speakers, music, and art. We’ll be there with our friends at Faith in Harm Reduction, Center of Addiction, and Faith and Ligare.

Tim will be speaking this summer at the Chautauqua Institute on July 13th right before he heads to the Wild Goose Festival. He’ll be a part of the InterFaith Lecture series and be speaking on hope in the midst of the overdose crisis. If you are in the area or plan at being at Chautauqua, let us know!

CNDP is co-sponsoring a special digital screening of Love in the Time of Fentanyl followed by a panel discussion. The film is a gripping portrayal of the leaders working in downtown Vancouver to fight the overdose crisis. The panel discussion afterward features faith leaders and leadership from OnPoint, the overdose prevention center in NYC.
Are you in the DC area? Or do you know faith leaders who are? Clergy for a New Drug Policy is building relationships with local organizers hoping to engage the faith community in our mission to end the War on Drugs. Reply to this email if you want to learn more.

Clergy for a New Drug Policy organized faith support for important legislation in Minnesota that decriminalized drug paraphernalia, drug residue, and legalized drug testing equipment. This was an important step in moving toward a public health response to drug use and ensuring more people take advantage of life saving harm reduction services. We were just one small part of the work but grateful to see what was accomplished.

Clergy for a New Drug Policy joined the Drug Policy Alliance in a sign-on letter calling for President Biden to take action on legalizing cannabis.
